Hungry like the wolf

My ex-husband is a huge Duran Duran fan, so when I got this stamp and this song popped into my head, I knew I had to use it for his birthday card.
I meant to copy a zindorf tutorial and take it home to follow and as usual, I forgot, so had to wing it. Zindorf, I am not, but I think it turned out ok for a "Frenchy Original".
I cut a circle for the moon out of a post it and placed it on white cardstock. I brayered with blue bayou and then not quite navy for the sky. I tore strips of creamy caramel for the hills and inked them up with Chocolate Chip. I inked night of navy around the edges of the sky and at the horizon. I put some shadowy, stripey little clouds over the moon, but they are hard to see in the photo. The wolf was colored with copics. I wanted him to look like the moonlight was reflecting off his fur. I did his scruff with milky white and his body in cool grey 3, shaded with cool grey 5 then blended the whole thing with milky white, which made it look more like fur (well, at least to me!). I mounted it on really rust, basic grey archaic, black and then finally on a grey bazzill card base.

For Emma

This card was made for my dd. She had made some bad choices in the last couple of years and gotten involved with some bad people. We took her to a charter school about 3 1/2 hours from where we live on Sunday. So, I made this to include in her first care package that I will be sending.
After the long car trip, I have been absolutely exhuasted this week. I almost stayed home today, but I really have a hard time justifying staying home when I'm able to come to work. Anyway, when I'm this tired, my hands shake, so the dots aren't the best.
I used the colors from the CC181 at SCS. The base is creamy caramel (I had no kraft, but I think this color went nicely with the squirel anyway), black and rose red. The back ground was stamped with leaves and acorns on white and colored with copics. I sponged it with bashful blue. the squirel and branch were also colored with copics. I stamped the sentiment, punched it with the small oval, inked it with rose red and framed it with the larger oval, punched from black. I added the primas and a dew drop to finish it off.

I made this for a friend's daughter, who is turning 15 on Friday. The inside says: Happy Birthday Hope it's Swimtastic! I really like this card, the colors, the stamp (I've been wanting this stamp FOREVER!), the dp. It only got one comment on splitcoast. Isn't it funny how things go. Many times my cards I think are great barely get a look and those I'm not that impressed with get lots of comments (well, lots for me, anyway).

The colors I used on this are soft sky (my last piece, wishing I had gotten some more now), wild wasabi, pumpkin pie and certainly celery. The dp is basic grey phoebe. The green ribbon is from walmart and the pumpkin pie ribbon is from SU. I inked all the edges with coordinating colors except the soft sky, which I don't have. I used cool carribean and then just a little bit of blue bayou, which I also used to ink the edges of the dp. I used my nesties for the ovals and circles and my cuttlebug for the certainly celery layer. The turtle was lovingly colored with copics :)

TGIF

Ugh - this week has seemed so long. The days have seemed like weeks. I'm glad it's almost over. I'm really tired and kind of cranky, although I've been trying to talk myself out of it. I was sick last night. We had a frozen lasagne, my best bud since 2nd grade filled my freezer up with convenience foods after my surgery and it has been a blessing not to have to make a huge effort to get dinner on the table. However, I went into my studio last night and after stamping and coloring for just a little while I began to feel really nauseated. So, I gave up and went to the living room to sit and sip some cold water. About that time Gage came downstairs and said he felt "kinda barfy". He asked if he could have a soda and I agreed and asked him to bring me one, too. That helped a little, but by 9:00 I was sleeping and by 10:00 I was in bed, so I didn't get any cards done last night. But, I forgot to post yesterday, so I'll post those cards!
Doesn't this kitty just look so proud of herself?? If she's anything like my kitties it's probably because she managed to single-pawedly tear down the curtains again. This card is for SC190 and mother mark's teapot tuesday #8. I bought the paper that I thought went with the teapot at hobby lobby. I added the ribbon and had planned on doing a ribbon blossom ala 4Hounds at SCS, but I didn't have enough cream and black ribbon to do one. Something to add to my list! So, The kitty is just sitting in the middle of this simple card, which I happen to like alot!

I made this card for Mother Mark's Tpot Tuesday #7 (trying to get caught up on those from when I was out of commision) and the CC180 at SCS. I used Chocolate Chip as my neutral for my base and layered using, ruby red, cuttlebugged. The DP is Basic Grey Blush layered with close to cocoa. I used my MFT Here's the Scoop for the image and the sentiment. All the layers are inked with coordinating colors. The gingham ribbon, I've had forever - isn't it cute. I thought I was done and then I decided to ticket punch the corners and add the pearls, add the flowers and finally add the spoon.

Hump day

This acetate box was made for TLC182. I was happy with the way it turned out and it was easy! I've had this inkadinkado stamp for a while and had not used it yet, so that was fun. It even got a comment from my much adored idol, Faith "Markie's Mom" Hofrichter. Although I'm sure she must have to comment on a certain number of the challenges or something! LOL!

The kids and I bought some ceramic piggies awhile back and tried to decorate them. Emma's came out SO cute. And, Kai's looks like a very enthusiastic 4 year old made it. Well, I tried to use some older rubons on mine and they didn't exactly go on well. So, when I saw this metallic piggy for $2.50 at the target $1 spot, I snapped him right up. I used some SU rubons and they worked quite nicely. My plan is to use this for my stamping fund. We'll have to see how that turns out!

Monday again

OK - I admit it. I overdid it! But, it wasn't going to work. I went shopping for school supplies for my son, went out to brunch and then went toy browsing with my little guy. I went home at the end of the day Saturday and I knew I had done too much. I rested all day yesterday (well, except for making this phone book) but, I'm whipped today.
I found this little pop up phone book in the dollar bin at Alco. I think they were retro even when I was a kid, so I was suprised to find it, but knew it would be so cute with this set. I cut a strip of basic grey two scoops and adhered it to the left of the letters. Then I stamped the image on white, and two other patterns from 2 scoops. I paper pieced the chair and the pants - I just think that the plaid is so cute for those pants, I had to use it again. Lastly I stamped "Hey it's been awhile...Call me!" on green basic grey strips and place them at an angle.
I'm still having problems with my IV site. The actual site, on the back of my hand is healed. However, further up, on the side of my arm about halfway to my elbow is a hard lump that is red and hot. I called the dr. about it today and I'm hoping that it's not a blood clot. I told the nurses that it didn't feel right from the first day, but they thought I was just complaining, I guess. Of course, I had been sawed in half and was up walking laps in the hospital hall without complaining, but I guess they didn't stop to think about that. I really did have very nice nurses, but I think they are just used to people griping about pains.

I'm baaaaack

Well, the surgery went well. It was schedule for 11:30 and didn't start until almost 2. It was supposed to take 2 hours and due to scar tissue, took 3 1/2. But, I'm back to work 1/2 days and full-time starting Friday. Told you I was stubborn. I really am feeling pretty good. I even made some cards, but had to send them out for thank you notes to people who sent flowers and food and such, so no pictures. Maybe tomorrow, although I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty tired by 5:00.
